3/30/2024 0 Comments Single coil vs humbucker for metal![]() This is a Christian and Family friendly Fender Stratocaster appreciation post.Ĭlick to expand.Ive got this fuzz box, it's an nkt275 ( the modern repro nkt275 that are made to look exactly like an old ones but the maker doesn't admit it ) dallas arbiter clone. What do you propose/ What pickups do you use? So far, I only liked the fender hot noiseless set, although they are not true single coils they sound 90% like the real thing and they are hot without hum. I want to change them for single coil again but I don't know which pickups. they are not bad for slow and chill blues but they sound very thin when it is time to rev up the gain. I have a early 80s Fender Stratocaster that supposedly is a 60s reissue and the pickups are, I think the Fender fat 50s. The same goes for Hank Shermann, although in his Instagram page he seems to like Seymour Duncan's quarter pounds pretty much like Blackmore these days.Īnd let's not forget Blackmore has a stellar tone.ĭoes any of you play with full single coil Strat some old classic heavy metal and hard rock? I couldn't find any information about Downing's pickups but they were not stock. And of course KK Downing in the earlier Judas Priest albums he played a 60s Stratocaster with full single coil pickup set. ![]() While the Gibson Les Paul and a Marshall definitely is the way to go for this classic tones, the Stratocaster players produced some great tones as well.Īnd when I say Stratocaster, I mean full single coil pickups only, not the mini humbuckers.įor example Hank Shermann from Mercyful Fate, I love his tone and his work. ![]()
